I purchased a puppy from Petland about 2 weeks ago. The store was nice and clean and the staff were friendly and attentive. But, that being said, it has been a nightmare since then. Just a few days after bringing the puppy home she became lethargic and had a poor appetite. I decided to take her to my veterinarian that I know and trust. They did some testing and sure enough the puppy tested positive for parvo virus. She had a 50% chance of survival. They said her best chance for survival was to be hospitalized at Animal Emergency & Specialty Center in Knoxville. She was there for 4 days and is now home. But it cost me over $3,000!
Petland does have a veterinarian that will treat the purchased puppy with no cost to you but keep in mind this is the same vet that had just deemed the puppy "fit to be sold" just days before I bought her. Obviously I did not trust this vet as I am certain this puppy was sick before I even bought her.
I called Petland to let them know they sold me a sick puppy. They could have cared less. The girl I spoke to kept saying that they would not pay for any vet bills unless I brought the puppy to their vet. That was not my reason for calling. I am genuinely concerned for the other puppies there and for the people that buy them. Parvo virus is highly contagious and I am certain there will be other sick pups sold there. Buyers beware!!!Tessa Boring

We recently purchased 2 guinea pigs from here. They are both doing well so far. The staff was very knowledgeable and went out of their way to help us with supplies we would need. They had a really good deal on a home with supplies and guinea pig purchase. Plus a lifetime warranty with certain stipulations. I would definitely recommend them when wanting to purchase a pet!

Good place for pet items if you don’t want to use the other name brand stores or battle grocery stores. They have what you need and are reasonably priced.

Went to look at a golden retriever. Fell in love with him. They wanted 6k for him..I don’t think a dog should EVER be priced that. But people keep buying from them & that’s why this place stays in business. We got a Goldie from a breeder a whole lot cheaper with papers.

The store is well maintained, however with that being said. I have a dog that was purchased from pet land that has health issues due to bad breeding of animals. It’s costly to maintain the dog now as ever. Please avoid buying a animal at this kind of chain store at all costs. A lot of people can say that it’s just something that happens but the fact is the dog came from bad breeding. If you don’t know what bad breeding is, google it. They claim to have a warranty for your pets health at their premium cost. I’d say that if I could do it again, I would find a pup from a shelter.

Definitely a great selection of animals. Best of all for me is you can order any variety of dogs with a down payment.
