Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier

The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier is a delightful medium-sized breed that brings a charming blend of playfulness and affection into any household. Originating from Ireland, this lovable breed was initially bred to assist farmers by helping with vermin control while also providing companionship. Their friendly nature and adaptability make them a wonderful fit for families, especially those with young children or other pets, as they tend to be gentle and good-natured around both kids and animals alike.

These spirited terriers have a pleasant energy level and enjoy regular playtime or walks, so be prepared for some fun-filled moments together. Their ability to thrive in apartment living makes them suitable for various lifestyles, although they do require a moderate amount of exercise to keep them happy and well-adjusted. When it comes to grooming, their beautiful, soft coats necessitate professional grooming to keep them looking their best, and you may find yourself occasionally vacuuming due to their shedding, which is more than average.

With a keen intelligence and willingness to please, Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers are relatively easy to train, especially when using positive reinforcement methods. This breed loves to bond with their families and will often follow you from room to room, eager for attention and affection. With a moderate barking tendency, they will alert you to visitors without excessive noise. If you are searching for a loving and engaging companion that can adapt to your lifestyle, consider welcoming a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier into your home, and visit us at Petland Knoxville, Tennessee to meet one of these wonderful dogs.
